Brianna Rice Receives fall 2012 Elizabeth H. Aston and Barbara A. Donan Scholarship for the Study of Education to Attend Millersville University

Brianna F. Rice, of Millersville, Pa., has been selected to receive the fall 2012 Elizabeth H. Aston and Barbara A. Donan Scholarship for the Study of Education. Rice will graduate from Penn Manor High School and will attend Millersville University of Pennsylvania this fall to study Pre-K-4& special education.

Rice pursued a solid college preparatory curriculum while in high school, taking several courses at a Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) level including Honors level English, British literature, American literature, U.S. history I and II, modern world history, advanced algebra II, geometry, trigonometry, math analysis, biology, chemistry and physics of mechanics and AP level calculus AB, psychology, economics, statistics and literature/composition. Rice will be the first person in her immediate family to attend a four-year college and was on the honor roll throughout high school. She is in the second year of an internship program at Eshleman elementary school and works with the teacher of a fourth grade class. She has also been a participant in a preschool vacation bible school offered through the Silver Springs Baptist Church where she teaches a three year old Sunday school class. Rice is a Serteen and has volunteered for various events and fundrasiers. Rice was honored this past year as a Young Humanitarian. Rice is also the recipient of the Gail Thomson Penn Manor Scholarship.
