Brianna Rice Receives the Gail Thomson/Penn Manor Scholarship

Brianna . Rice, of Millersville, Pa., has been selected to receive the Gail Thomson/Penn Manor Scholarship. Rice will graduate from Penn Manor High School and will attend Millersville University of Pennsylvania this fall to study early childhood/special education.

Rice was on the Honor Roll throughout high school. She is in the second year of an internship program at Eshleman elementary school and works with the teacher of a fourth grade class. Brianna is a Serteen and has volunteered for the Millersville Homecoming Parade, the Sertoma BBQ, the Lancaster Crop Walk, the Lancaster Day of Caring, the Millersville Community's 250 Year celebration and volunteered as a fund raiser for Blue Jeans for Babies. Rice was honored this past year as a Young Humanitarian.

The Gail Thomson/Penn Manor Scholarship is for a student who is graduating from Penn Manor High School and enrolling at Millersville University as a first-time,full time-time freshman. The recipient must have demonstarted financial need. The endowed Scholarship is in honor of Mrs. Gail Thomson's year of service as a teacher in the Penn Manor School District. The endowment was established by her husband, Dr. Edward Thomson, retired associate vice president of student affairs emeritus at Millersville University.
