Millersville University of Pennsylvania

The Cygnus Society recognizes students who have both the passion and purpose to lead and serve Millersville University and the community. Members of the Cygnus Society embody the University's EPPIIC Values (Exploration, Professionalism, Public Mission, Inclusion, Integrity and Compassion) and combine scholarship, integrity and maturity with university-wide awareness, participation and leadership. They have demonstrated their significant contributions to the academic, co-curricular and extracurricular life of Millersville University. Cygnus Society members serve as ambassadors of the Office of the President and participate at university functions including winter and spring commencements.

Three Millersville University of Pennsylvania graduates presented research at the American Chemical Society's annual national meeting in Atlanta in March. In addition, the students were featured in a video produced by the ACS.

Millersville University student Willow Kint, a sophomore meteorology major from Thurmont, Md., is among the 128 undergraduate students across the nation chosen by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to receive Ernest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarships.

Meteorology major Nelson Tucker has been interested in the weather since he was a young boy living in Vienna, Virginia. He became "deeply focused" on tornadoes during the next few years, and by high school, they became an obsession. His passion for tornadoes and desire to help others has led him, along with his brother and two friends, to create The OTUS Project, which stands for The Observations of Tornadoes by UAV Systems. The OTUS project is an effort to gather reliable measurements of the environment within and surrounding a tornado to protect lives and property, according to its website.
